I want something that is fun and exciting! Well.. easily enough said, but fun and exciting is different depending on who you're asking at that moment. So here's a list! - No limit on char advancement (no level cap)
- Open char development (how games like elder scrolls allow you to have one character with many hats so to speak)
- No perm death
- A horror theme
- Quests being able to be put in by any player at any level if they're approved.
- Player crafted items being more powerful then things bought at the general store
- No special items given to OPs for just being an op.
- Adult elements IC, though all of them requiring ooc consent
- No ooc consent needed to kill
- An influence system that will allow characters to feel a better part of the world around them
Just what came to mind. I reserve the right to alter and add to this list as stuff occurs to me!

To compare and contrast with Alren's thoughts I'd like to give mine... what I'd like to see: - Character advancement rewarded through both levels and cool loot! A level cap? I dunno. I think perhaps there should be a point of diminishing returns to encourage people to try new things and so that we don't have obscenely overpowered demigods walking down the street. This doesn't need to be a hard limit though.
- More structured character development so choices about it are significant, but still flexible enough that you don't need to agonize over every decision (I will, but that's just me being me)
- Permanent death is a possibility in quests, events and such... If you want to avoid it you can avoid those things... and even then it's unlikely. Death is a big deal though. As a result there are rules surrounding it both OOCly and ICly. Particularly ICly. Murder is a legal concept that this setting has. This can lead to interesting interplay between characters which leads me to...
- Lots of intrigue and IC politics. Groups and individuals have their own goals and will clash over them and have to figure out clever ways to achieve them. Conflict is the driving force behind good stories and an RP should be no different. ICly, power is tenuous so players have a chance to be a bigshot in the game world even if they're not OOCly in a special position... but getting there puts a target on your back.
- Totally agree with quests being something anyone can do. The more the merrier!
- A player-driven economy where anything you can buy (note that this excludes super-powerful items that must be won through adventure) can be created by a sufficiently skilled character. NPCs will shore this up where players don't step in but I hope that more and more players will step up to the plate as time goes on.
- If we do have characters that start out powerful because they are important ICly and/or played by OPs, anything they have needs to have an IC reason to be in their possession and needs to be proportional to their power. Also, no items that are "off-limits" to some players. If I can have a Super-Epic Widget of Awesomeness +3, anyone can have one provided they ICly come across and take it.
- Adult elements but these are not the main focus even if they are a rather popular pastime of the people of this wild city we'll be in.
- ICA = ICC. Your character does something and you can expect realistic results, subject to OOC consent where applicable.

I do agree with most as said above, but yes, i believe ops should have some more power, while i do not mean the noble system of TLI, but i think it would be interesting, for a OP or a Noble to create their own country, or like city they came from, with a solid background on it!
I do have many ideas,
= World having ops/noble type as I said from above, being forced to come up with their own country (Can have help from others, or something similar, would add background, in truth for me this would be easy since I have wanted to created my own channel just never had the time or a team or programming skills to do so.)
= Perhaps races instead of set stats have a more dndish feel? Like for example, a pixie, rolls a d5 for STR stat, yet a Minotaur rolls a d12 or something. Sounds off but the idea of stats mattering sounds interesting, granted at times I can understand why not... but the rolling for base stats would give people reasons to play certain races, for example; in tli you can make a ogre or mino for the easy STR and you have bonus' for it towards weapons and armor.
=While I can see horror, some may pull off a bit to far with this, I know undone but popular are also a bit steampunkish for some, personally, era does not matter to me as much as long it is midevilish.
=And as what Iron said her biggest idea of no drama... see that is something tli lacked horrible, it also had CLIQUES, which did push people from rp. I think there should be multiple OP's kind of like a triumvirate of ops, or a group that are all even. No single person with power... no single person except the owner has the ultimate power. Why do I say this... do I have to explain, Come onn... commmeee onnn!
= More Varied races, don’t come up with some fancy name for angels, then make the counter part a animal, make some majestic to the world and the races...
=A unique magic ideal, and I do have a great idea for magics, its basically stolen from a rp and a game... while one would make the game a LOT more randomized in power... and some would only ever reach certain levels of power, not levels, it is a teired system, and world... while it does sound confining, it could easily be switched around, I can explain more in a pm or something. The other is similar to a point.. >.>
=NO PERM DEATH I HATE hardcore type systems, if there is easy perma death I will avoid... just saying.
=Crafted or event gear should be the best, and harder to gather, could see a miner selling, a leatherworker selling then the smith taking the items and forging it all.
=No twinking people through prostitution... I mean seriously, im rich so fuck me you get phat lewt! Is annoying... and just yeah... find a good money sink... a GOOD one...
=Let people be able to create in game content with help of ops, or a team, i.e. assassins guild, or that type of stuff...
Sorry the list kinda sucks, tired, still meh from work.

No limit on char advancement (no level cap) This is my biggest issue with games that circumvent normal level caps. You have someone come into the game late, a few years or so after the start of the game, and they suddenly feel like they are an ant walking amongst giants, and will -never- catch up to them, or be as significant as they are. A level cap encourages people to realize there ARE limits to your strength, eventually someone WILL show up who is equal in power, or more powerful than you, and it encourages people to do the right thing: Offer the maxed character as a permanent NPC for the Ops to use for questgiving, or to run a shop. Immortalize your character like such, and try something new afterwards. Addendum: This doesn't mean you have to stop playing them, obviously. You could still use them in RP, but there needs to be a cap of just how powerful someone may get.

The thing is in truth, with a level cap, some would honestly stop playing their character. Even if they are a high level, many people in LI have let level 1 pickpocket, kill, kidnap, enslave them for a short storyline. Most do not abuse it as heavily as others think.

Why? Why would someone stop playing the character after hitting a level cap? Normal humans do not keep getting stronger. In fact, we get WEAKER the older we get, once we hit a certain age. To let a character just continue to grow and grow and grow, with no cap as to how powerful they can get, to -me- it breaks immersion. It becomes unrealistic, and ruins it for me.
But that is just me.

Lets keep the posts on topic to thinks that we like. Part of the reason I tossed up this thread was to see just what other topics might be worthy of their own thread so I'll ask that we move the discussion on Level caps to it. Level cap thread.
